We provide 1:1 direct therapy sessions with children, adolescents and families. We also work closely with foster agencies providing therapeutic supervision to foster carers, therapeutic training and facilitating foster carer support groups. We are also committed to implementing school intervention programmes to help support young people's emotional and mentalh health.
We believe trauma is healed through relationship, all our work is underpinned by this principle. We pride ourselves in being able to engage with the most hard to reach young people and using our relationship look at understanding their world and begin to implement changes.
Theories that influence our work:-
Systemic
Psychodynamic
Attachment
Neuroscience
Somatic
We do either long term or short term pieces of work dependent on the young person's need we also do family work where this is considered appropriate.
We provide consultancy to foster agencies which can include but is not exclusive to therapeutic training packages to foster carers, supervision to foster carers and facilitating foster carer therapeutic support groups.
We believe a whole team approach is integral in improving outcomes to LAC and when all adults around the child are working to the same therapeutic priniciples then it helps repair trauma and improve placement stability.
We provide training packages from 8 week workshops to one off training. All are underpinned by an experiential relational approach.
It is widely known that referrals for children and young people to mental health services have been on the rise for many years. In Kent and Medway between January 2020 and March 2020 referrals totalled 8,400 and the precentage that were closed before treatment was 48%. This would suggest that a massive amount of children are not meeting the threshold for this service and are therefore not being treated.
We believe one of the ways in which to reduce this number is to provide interventions and group work within schools. This allows a high proportion of children and young people to get access to the mentalh health services they so urgently require and will allow interventions to be in place before situations escalate to crisis point.
"Bridget makes me be calm and is helping me be happy"
I have been fortunate to have had sessions with Bridget who is passionate about supporting families that are overwhelmed with emotions in a safe non-judgemental space. Bridget has provided positive changes for me and the way I understand and relate to others. Bridget was extremely helpful in supporting me to understand transference and how to manage it. Bridget has provided calm and understanding to my young person to help him manage the day to day life and make sense of the bigger picture.
